Dramma per musica in three acts
Text by Giovanni Faustini | In Italian with surtitles
A production of the Upper Austrian Opera Studios
In the 17th century, the Venetian composer Francesco Cavalli composed operas in which great emotions were encountered on the fluctuating, love on hatred, reason on madness, magic on realism. Thus, his works are as plentiful as life itself. This can be learned from La Rosinda, when two enchanted sorcereresses fight for the same man by all means. Magical potions, giants, fury, witches, dwarfs - all of this contributes to the fact that Rosinda, Nerea and Clitofonte's emotional confusion are becoming more and more popular.
