A stage full of history. A hall with excellent acoustics. A repertoire of international dimensions. Architecture that testifies to courage and stylistic confidence. The Brucknerhaus is what music should be: a haunting symphony that is an emotional monument to passion.
„Ein Erlebnis von berauschender Schönheit“
Artists who take their first chance here have both feet firmly on the career ladder. When first-class orchestras perform in the largest concert hall outside Vienna, music becomes an "experience of intoxicating beauty" - as Herbert von Karajan said at the opening concert with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on 23 March 1974. The timelessly beautiful and, by the standards of the time, bold architecture in harmonious combination with outstanding acoustics, even the cool and matter-of-fact conductor was overcome with exuberance. Today, the Brucknerhaus is a Linz landmark of international standing. What is performed here must be of high quality.
Tradition - Identity - Innovation - Internationality
The musical repertoire is selected according to four pillars: Tradition, identity, innovation and internationality. By this we mean: the cultivation of Upper Austrian music and cultural tradition, identity-forming programmes through the promotion of Austrian artists, the presentation of innovative approaches and new interpretations as well as the presentation of top international ensembles and the illumination of blank spots on the musical map. Despite its comparatively young age, the Brucknerhaus is already one of the established and internationally recognised institutions of classical music with this composition.
The Brucknerhaus Linz: a building that is forward-looking, open, timelessly elegant and yet committed to its traditions and values. This building celebrated its 50th birthday in 2024.
