The first ‘Klangwolke’ of the year will sweep across the city and the banks of the Danube as early as 4 September: with the concert on Bruckner’s birthday, in which Riccardo Chailly and his Filarmonica della Scala will present two famous ‘fourth’ works in the Great Hall of the Brucknerhaus: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 4. This festive birthday celebration, for which the exceptional young Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev returns to the Brucknerhaus Linz as soloist, will be broadcast live from the Donaupark as ‘Klassische Klangwolke 26’.
Two days later, hundreds of people of all ages will once again be gathering there when ‘Kinderklangwolke 26’ opens its doors at Donaupark from 4.00 pm, inviting visitors to join in, watch, listen and be amazed. Details of ‘Kinderklangwolke 26’ on Sunday 6 September will be published at the end of June by the organisers at the Kuddelmuddel Children’s Cultural Centre.
The cloud then builds in intensity over several days, culminating in its spectacular release in the form of the Linz Klangwolke ATTheENDLinz on the evening of 12 September. Numerous partners and cultural institutions across the city will be taking part during this period with events, formats and activities of all sizes at various locations throughout the city, both near and far from the Danube, thus spanning the cultural spectrum across an eventful ‘Sound Cloud Week’. A city springs into action, becomes sound, speaks and plays in many places, filling spaces of the most diverse kinds.
Admission to the events is free.
