The Bruckner Festival 2019 looks both back and forward. This is taken into account with the  Pop-up-Concerts from the 5th to the 7th September, when the works of the Festival namesake, in contemporary modified versions, comes out of the concert hall and into the city centre.

Actually Bruckner must have loved the accordion, as he was a notorious pub-goer and at the same time a world-famous organist. Both these things are mirrored in his symphonies, where the folksy and the monumental are juxtaposed as a matter of course. Although the instrument was already known in Bruckner´s lifetime, its triumphant success in its many variations (bandoneon, bajan, Styrian button harmonika and so on) started later; it is increasingly popular today.

In the project „INSTANT BRUCKNER“ musical passages are extracted from Bruckner's symphonies and assembled in a different order to create new pieces. Played on the accordion, a mobile organ for the masses, Bruckner's sound can thus be brought close to large numbers of people. In a collaboration with the Linz Music School, music teachers and their pupils work together with Peter Androsch to distill their own individual Bruckner. Each in their own way – for the here and now!
